The Victorian Committee of the Defence Reserves Support Council has requested the Defence Reserve Association to bring the Supportive Employers Programme to the attention of its members and their business contacts. This is a National initiative being run out of Canberra by DRSC and Head Cadets Reserves & Employer Support Division. The following link provides information on the Supportive Employer Programme:
http://www.defencereservessupport.gov.au/for-employers/become-a-supportive-employer.aspx

There are a number of benefits to be gained by signing up to the programme, the key one being publically listed as a supportive employer. Your company also gets to use the DRSC logo on your company web site or letterhead. You don’t have to employ Reservists to be eligible.

The "Statement of Support” may be obtained from CMDR Peter Hicks and is to be completed by the Employer organisation.
In summary the programme is simply asking employers across the whole of the business spectrum to endorse the following statement:
“All Australians share responsibility for our national security, including a capable and resilient Australian Defence Force with permanent and reserve components. As responsible corporate citizens, we pledge support to our employees/students who serve our nation as Australian Defence Force Reservists, and to provide the leave required for their service obligations.”

All members are asked to pass this information on to their business contacts. Further information can be obtained from CMDR Peter Hicks (peter.hicks@defence.gov.au) Mob 0407 872 784.
